Senior Pet Health Insurance
Senior pet health insurance is a good option to consider because as pet age they are more susceptible to diseases, much more chronic diseases that cost much more money to treat. Obviously the price is going to meet much more expensive for a senior policy, but it might make sense depending on your financial situation. 3 ProvidersThere are three specific providers that I’m aware of that provide pet insurance for older pets. They are 24PetWatch, ShelterCare, and PetFirst. 24PetWatch and ShelterCare offer similar plans. PetFirst also offers a plan but it also is more comprehensive and expensive. 24PetWatch and ShelterCareThese two companies offer similar policies. The monthly premium is $32.95, this covers accidents and illnesses only. The deductible is $200. PetFirstThis company offers it senior pet policy for $66.95 with a $100 deductible. It covers accidents and illnesses but it also covers routine care, which is why it’s more expensive than the first two plans.
Which One To Choose?Which pet policy you decide on depends upon how much coverage that you want and how much were willing to pay for that coverage. Obviously the more you are willing to pay for more coverage you’ll get. One way to decide on which policy to buy is to figure out how much on average you spend at the veterinary clinic. If it is over $669.50 than the comprehensive policy from PetFirst might make sense. If you don’t spend that much one of the cheaper plans might be a better deal for you. If you’re still having trouble making up her mind consult your veterinarian. They can probably give you some valuable advice and had you in the right direction. If you choose not to get a senior pet policy remember to save money up in a pet emergency fund in case your pet experiences an unforeseen accident.
