Pet Sitting InsuranceQuestion:I work as a pet sitter part time and hope to do it full time eventually. Right now I have about 20 clients and I'm always adding more clients. I have not incorporated my business nor do I have any type of insurance. Do you recommend getting a pet sitting insurance policy?Answer:Since this is a personal financial decision I can only offer you some helpful information. If I was in your situation I would look into getting a policy since you are looking at doing this activity full-time. Even if you're just pet sitting part time it would still be a good idea to have an insurance policy.Remember when the dog is in your control you are responsible for that animal. So if the dog gets loose and bites someone or damages his property you will likely be a comparable. There are several companies that offer pet sitter insurance like PSA Insurance and the Business Insurers of the Carolinas. As they both have websites and you can visit them there or call their 1-800 numbers and ask for a quote. I'm sure there are several other companies that offer these type of insurance policies so he could probably find many more. Don't wait, call and get a quote today, these policies probably costs around $100 a year. Remember these policies are very specific about what they cover. So if you're doing any type of training or grooming make sure that is also included it in the coverage.
