Avoid insuring with AKC!
by: Craig

The insurer does a disservice to the AKC name. They work really hard at one thing . . . denying your claim. I recently submitted a claim for a visit to the vet resulting from my dog ingesting a foreign object that irritated and lacerated his esophagus/larynx. Luckily he passed the object. However, he was subsequently left with an irritated throat and cough. The claim was denied because the policy does cover "coughs" . . . . Umm, that was the result of the injury, not the symptom! Their response was to ask whether or not I filed a claim for reconsideration as if that is standard operating procedure. As this is the second time I've been forced to jump through multiple hoops, I'm guessing it is. Moreover, after talking with one of their representatives who admitted the error, I learned that had they adequately considered my claim initially it would have been denied because they only cover such injuries it the foreign object was actually removed surgically! My point is their policy is nothing but loop holes. I'm not wasting one more second dealing with these buffoons. If you like beating your head against a concrete and wasting copious amounts of time filing paperwork, then this is the policy for you!!!!

What a Scam the AKC is
by: Anonymous

This is not an insurance plan - it is a rip off gimmick. I had the Wellness Pet Plan and my pup was very sick. The AKC has a "loop hole" of which they considered everything the same incident when it in FACT is not. Even their EOB's indicated different illnesses and they still rule it the "PER INCIDENT" when they are are not and DO NOT PAY your claims. Mind you they take your money though. Can you believe I was told I had to have my poor boy euthanised and they AKC denied that too! Yet the plan clearly states it pays for such events. I have explored other insurances after this heart wrenching experience with my boy and the AKC. I was pleasantly surprised to see how friendly the customer service is everywhere but the AKC. I cannot even count the times the AKC LOST MY CLAIMS of which I had proof were submitted. If you truly want insurance the AKC PetPartners is NOT the place to get it.

AKC -- Insurance is what they call it
by: Anonymous

Can you believe I have the AKC Wellness Plan and sadly I lost my sweet boy -- The AKC DENIED the Euthanasia. They have denied many, many things to the tune of $8,000. It was medically necessary much to my heart break. I ask do you want to deal with this type of insurance company that states they cover things that they don't including Euthanasia. Do you need this hassle after such a horrific loss of you beloved pet. They are the ABSOLUTE MOST HORRIBLE INSURANCE OUT! Think 1,000 before engaging in insurance with the AKC.

Look for insurance that does NOT have a per incident CLAUSE that AKC does. This allows them to throw everything into one incident and it is not the case - but it is the AKC loop hole. LOOK FOR AN ANNUAL MAXIMUM withOUT a per incident. Something the AKC DOES NOT OFFER -- if they did maybe they would have to pay the claims then.

Consumer BEWARE of the AKC PetPartners Insurance – they make you believe you have comprehensive coverage for your beloved pet and YOU DO NOT based off my experience which I have turned over the State Insurance Review Board!
