Older Pet Insurance

Question: I have some older dogs and was wondering if it pays to buy older pet insurance. I have heard that most tech companies will not ensure older animals, and even if they do it is very expensive.

Do these type of policies offer very much coverage? Would you recommend buying these policies for older animals?

Answer: there are at least three companies I know that offer older pet insurance, they are 24PetWatch, PetFirst, and ShelterCare.

The price for ensuring an older pet varies a lot by age, breed, an existing health conditions. The only way to know if you truly want to buy this insurance is to call them and get a quote.

Only then can you compare them and see what the coverage is for the amount of money that you have to pay.

Since buying pet insurance is a personal financial decision only you can make that decision for yourself. However older pet insurance is much more expensive and the coverage is much less.

One way to decide if it is worth the price is to add up the annual premium for the whole year versus how much you anticipate to spend at the veterinary clinic this year. This dollar amount should give you an idea if it is worth it.
