More People Have Pet Insurance then Health Insurance

by Dr. Chris

October 4, 2010 Tesco, one of the leaders in the UK for pet insurance, recently did a survey that found that most people care more about their pet's health than their own. In a survey they asked people if they had insurance for themselves or for their pet.

The results shown that 46% had pet policies, whereas only 36% had health insurance for themselves.

This is quite a big difference and says a lot about how much people care for their pets. But the survey could also been biased because maybe they only interviewed pet owners.

Tesco also asked how much they would be willing to sacrifice to pay for their pet's treatment:

47% said they would stop eating out.
29% said they would not go on vacation.
21% said they would get rid of their gym membership.

The results of the survey just reinforced how important people's pets are becoming to them. Today more and more people are having fewer or no children. And oftentimes pets replace children for these people.
