by Luke Blaise
If you have the energy to hunt for discount dog food you can save a lot of money. However this is usually not very easy to do and it does require some work on your part. Here are five ways to find discount dog food that you may not have thought of before but ones that can save you a ton of cash. 1. Expired FoodWhile you don't have to buy expired pet food, you can buy products that are very close to expiring. Many pet store managers and grocery store managers need to get rid of products that are close to their expiration date and many will do so at a steep discount if you simply ask them. 2. Bulk BuyingJust like when you buy groceries for yourself, you can save a lot of money on pet food if you buy it in bulk. By buying a larger bag of food or multiple bags you can often get a good discount. In order to preserve some of this food longer you may want to think about refrigerating it or putting it in the freezer. 3. Ranch StoresRanch stores or farm stores often by larger bags of food and offer them at steeper discounts then what you can find at pet stores or grocery stores. You might have to drive a little bit further to find these stores but sometimes they're worth the trip. 4. Your Local Co-OpYou may even want to think about joining your local cooperative. These groups use bulk purchasing power to get steep discounts on a wide variety of products for their members. 5. Coupons and PromotionsBe sure to take advantage of local promotions and sales. By combining coupons with these promotions you can usually double what you would normally save by just using a coupon alone. As you can see, discount dog food can be found in a wide variety of places if you put in the footwork. There are many more ways to save, but these are the ones that generally work the best.
