Common Dog Tail Positions Explained
Many people often wonder what does a dog's tail position mean? This is something that actually many people and behaviorists spend time thinking about. While many people may think they know the answer, generally the answers are usually not that clear. So here are four positions that you'll likely find your dog's tail in, and what it likely means. Dog behavior is a lot more complex then what we think. And while we may think that we know all the answers, odds are we know very little about what each tail position means Here are four common dog tail positions and what most people generally agree upon to be their meaning. Pointed Straight Up When pets have their tail straight up it is usually a clear sign of confidence and that they are feeling like they are the top dog in the pack. Between the Legs Most people understand what this tail position means because the dogs usually also whimper, cower and are trying to hide. They are usually feeling submissive and are quite frightened. This shows that they clearly do not want to stick around in the area any longer because they are not in charge. Curved Over the Back Normally if a tail is curved over the dog's back it is usually a sign that they want to play. They may also have an expression on their face showing that they're ready to play. Tail Wagging Generally most people perceive that if the dog's tail is wagging back and forth it means that they are generally open and receptive to their environment. People love to classify animal behavior. But generally it is not as simple as we make it out to be. Odds are we are very clueless as to even recognize the very subtle signs of dog body behavior.
