AKC Pet Health Insurance

AKC pet health insurance offers a wide range of plans for dogs and cats. For those of you who are not familiar with the American kennel club it is the largest registry for purebred dogs in the world.

Because of this, they are in a unique position to offer a dog and cat insurance.

What They Offer

They have teamed up with Pet Partners Inc., which is one of the larger pet insurance companies in the United States.

They offer five different AKC pet health insurance plans with coverage of up to $13,000 a year.

You can even add a wellness option to most plans, which will cover vaccinations, physical exams, flea and tick medications, dental cleanings, and more. 80% of the costs are covered after the deductible.

For those looking for lower-cost options they have an accident plus coverage. This is for accidents and injuries only and is a great basic plan to get started with.

Also unlike other insurance companies, these AKC pet health insurance plans are available in all 50 states and the District of Colombia.

These plans are underwritten by the Markel Insurance Company.

Plans Offered

60 Day Trial

This is an introductory plan that is similar to their Essential plan but it has a smaller maximum per policy term of only $1,500, and it only has a maximum per incident of $500.

Accident Plus

This is a good basic plan for those who just want basic coverage. The co-insurance is only 10%, compared to all their other plans where the co-insurance level is 20%. Also the deductible at this level is a low $75 per incident.

Essential

The AKC Essential plan covers accidents and illnesses, with a 10% co-insurance and a maximum payout of $1,500 per incident.

Essential Plus

The Essential Plus plan is very similar to the Essential plan, but the payouts are double, up to $3,000 per incident.

Wellness

This plan offers accident, illness, and wellness.

Wellness Plus

This plan is similar to the Wellness plan but it also covers spay and neuter procedures.
